Volunteering in Uganda

Volunteering Opportunity OWENDO - Uganda would like to share with you an amazing opportunity for young adults or any body who wish to volunteer abroad this summer. Integrating a all kinds of skills and experience with hands-on work to help alleviate poverty, participants spend an exciting seven weeks in rural communities in Uganda, working on grassroots villages Please spread the word! Volunteering is a great way to help young people connect their values with their global values. The program (which begins with the service abroad) is a dynamic year-long program that weaves together an in-depth exploration of international development with service, and study. The program will provides students, aged 16 to 24 and above, with the opportunity to make an impact in the world. The program includes: * Living in rural communities in the developing world * Learning about human rights and international development * Exploring social justice. * Working on sustainable development projects such as digging a potable water system; constructing an elementary school; or building latrines  Teaching in schools and clubs of women  Supporting the Orphans and widows in their families  Painting and drawing  Sharing computer skills to the children  Training farmers and saving groups  Training teenagers in life skills  Preaching in churches on weekends and conduction life groups.  Touring and leading touring team to various places. * Engaging in skill building and networking throughout the year. Following the summer, participants will continue their service through domestic programming throughout the year, at retreats and with projects that continue to develop their skills as advocates for human rights.
