X-mas Love Gift 2011

We need your help for our upcoming Annual Christmas & 2011 Program. Our goal is to serve over 800 children in need. Organizational Structure -- OWENDO is comprised of the General Assembly, at the top, followed by the Board of Directors, Team Leader /Country Director, and the team that work together and volunteers. Funding Sources --- Members’ contributions currently constitute the bigger part of funding for most project implementation; some fund contribution from a well-wisher was given in support of the water project. This has consequently created a funding gap because the funds raised are not sufficient to enable the organization to satisfactorily deliver on its mandate. Who We Are ----- Orphans Widows Elderly Needy Development Organization (OWENDO) is a registered, non-profit, community based organization founded in 2005 with a social conscience orientation. OWENDO’s purpose is to empower and salvage children orphans, widow, elderly, and all the needy people (the youth, the disabled) who always find themselves in marginal and extremely vulnerable positions. The purpose is achieved by adopting the strategies of community involvement, action training, replication as well as collaboration and linkages with other development partners. The pathways to community empowerment which also double as programme areas are Livelihood Skills Development, Orphans and other Vulnerable Children Welfare, Primary Health Care including water need and both Agro-Business and Agro-forestry.

We have a big problem in Uganda now prices of every item is gone up…. 16 children reported and confirmed died of hunger(malnutrition)in Namutumba District. Home basic needs; like food, Fuel (gas), sugar, soap & all food staff is the highest.

Volunteering in Uganda

Volunteering Opportunity OWENDO - Uganda would like to share with you an amazing opportunity for young adults or any body who wish to volunteer abroad this summer. Integrating a all kinds of skills and experience with hands-on work to help alleviate poverty, participants spend an exciting seven weeks in rural communities in Uganda, working on grassroots villages Please spread the word! Volunteering is a great way to help young people connect their values with their global values. The program (which begins with the service abroad) is a dynamic year-long program that weaves together an in-depth exploration of international development with service, and study. The program will provides students, aged 16 to 24 and above, with the opportunity to make an impact in the world. The program includes: * Living in rural communities in the developing world * Learning about human rights and international development * Exploring social justice. * Working on sustainable development projects such as digging a potable water system; constructing an elementary school; or building latrines  Teaching in schools and clubs of women  Supporting the Orphans and widows in their families  Painting and drawing  Sharing computer skills to the children  Training farmers and saving groups  Training teenagers in life skills  Preaching in churches on weekends and conduction life groups.  Touring and leading touring team to various places. * Engaging in skill building and networking throughout the year. Following the summer, participants will continue their service through domestic programming throughout the year, at retreats and with projects that continue to develop their skills as advocates for human rights.
